My "original" setup for Vonage is my Surfboard 2100 -> Linksys BEFSR41 v2 -> Linksys RTP300. BEFSR41 would plug into my computers and the Vonage box. I was having problems with the BEFSR41 'dropping' my network connections. It seemed like it would go a few hours and then it would drop all DHCP connections. It was very random, so I didn't suspect any setting was to blame (I did check all the settings FYI).

So it's old. Linksys is on about v5 or 6 or that modem. So I swap out that for the Vonage box, the RTP300 - currently running firmware 1.00.62. (So the setup became Surfboard modem -> Linksys RTP300, used as router and Vonage adapter). A newb question here is can you use the Linksys firmware from the Linksys site on these boxes from Vonage?

As the subject suggests, this is not the real intent of my post. On
games played prior to swapping the router I would receive about 200ms ping times, as well as very clear calls. Using the stock RTP300 as the sole router I now receive almost a intermittent scratchy sound. The ping time on the games have gone up to around 300ms. Not bad still, but not what it used to be either.

Maybe someone has experience with an RTP300 and has pointers for me? I have read that it's not the greatest, maybe replacement is the only solution to finding the perfect combination of good quality with good speed, reliably.

I'll get some technical info if you think it'd help, but am typing from work, so I'd have to wait.
