My experience has not been a good one. The status page on my account looked like this until April 29th..

April 19, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
April 20, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received

On April 29th I called to check on the status. At that time they informed me that my LNP was rejected because my number wasn't mine but belonged to a large corp account which it is not. It is a residential number and has been for as lons as I have had it. Vonage never sent me an email or updated the status to inform me of this. During that call they manually entered this entry on my status page:

April 29, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier

Needless to say after many hours on the phone with SBC and Vonage I received an email on May 20th stating:

I apologize for the confusion, I research your account and the
information that we have forward to the our carrier. It seems like
the wrong number have been forwarded. I have forward the correct information this time. Please allow 5 to 7 business days for us to get an update on your transfer.

On May 27th I was told:

The carrier has issued a tentative transfer date for 5/31/2005.
Please keep in mind that this date is subject to change and is not
necessarily the date your transfer will take place. We will send you
a notification when the date is finalized by the carrier.

Of course it sill hasn't taken place and there have not been any updates made to my status page. I can only assume at this point that I am simply being lied to and LNP was never sent to the carrier. Once the 20 days from the new May 20th date passes I will cancel the request and try again with the new eLNP system. Of course I expect a long battle to have that option made available on my account.

When LNP works it works well but Vonage really needs to improve their processes so people like us don't have to wait many months for mistakes made my Vonage and/or their partners.

Good luck and hope that it goes through the first time or be prepared for it to never happen.
