My current setup is PPPoE.
I have tried just using the DHCP to no avail.
I have it as DSL>AT&T Modem>Belkin Router>Computer.
I then ran a cable from the VPortal to the router -any port on router.
Nothing...
I have tried connecting the vportal directly to the modem.
directly to the PC.

***When the vportal directly into modem it ...reboots..powers up... connect to internet..retrieves ip address..and profile...said connected to internet and goes to Vonage register..immediately gives error code 004],,,Unplug power and plug it in again... wait til you see the phone 1 icon displayed. When I do this... it does the same cycle over again.

***When the setup is directly from the computer to the vporta, this is the sequence... it says unplug power and plug it in again.. I do..
it powers up..connects to internet ..retrieves profile and ip address.
then immediately gives error 002].. check if your internet is down..
my computer in this setup says I have limited connectivity of course.

*** When I have it as DSL modem>Belkin router> computer>with the vportal on any router ethernet port. the vportal powers up... retrieves profile...and immediately give error code 002] check if your internet is down...Try restarting your modem....For DSL check your PPPoE setup ... in this situation I have done what it suggests and it just starts over. I have also tried making it a DHCP setup and still
nothing.
To answer an earlier question of yours, the PPPoE setting IS on my AT&T modem. I have used the correct username and password to confiugure the vportal when I set it up to PPPoE.

I wonder if I have a faulty device
Thanks for all of your help.
I don't know if any of this info will help you to evaluate and resolve this whole mess, but I do appreciate your efforts.

I know I have tried everything from power cycling the entire system together to every kind of connection set up. I must be missing something here or the equipment is bad. I do suspect that one cable sent with the vportal is bad... at one point the setup asked me to replace that cable with another and I did.. but nothing changed.

Ay Yi Yi Yi Yi!

I just got my vonage modem and it won''t work!

I have tried over and over again. I know I am signing in with the correct user name
Sure, the first piece will be to tell us about your network. How is everything setup
Thanks for responding to my vonage issue... My set up is a desktop computer
Should be pretty straight forward. Keep your current setup of DSL Modem ->
Before you received the Vonage V-Portal, where did you have your PPPoE information
Lets try to keep this very simple. Go back to your original settings where
Since PPPoE is configured on your DSL modem, you would not have to do anything with
And I like the idea of keeping it simple Patti123, but that does not work either.
I started from scratch (again) I connected my equipment as usual. I made sure
