My cordless phone base is located TWO FEET from my WRT54G router. Both work fine, with no interference whatsoever. I've even intentionally tried to cause interference between the two. No dice. They just keep being happy with each other. Damned pesky reliable modern electronics.
The cordless phone appears to detect "interference" on a channel if it happens to choose the same one my WiFi router uses, and it changes channels away from the router. This is an AT&T 1485 Cordless/Speakerphone. Hardly a sophisticated piece of gear.
Regardless, the manal for every WiFi router states that 2.4GHz phones could be a problem. The test is easy. As a former boss of mine used to say, "This isn't rocket surgery, people."
Yes, interference is possible. It's also highly unlikely, and almost certainly NOT the cause for your problem. Possibly the Vonage rep should have told you to hook up a wired phone. On the other hand, you have stated to us that the wireless phone and the WRT54G had been working proior to Vonage. That means that it is VERY unlikely to be a factor, and not worth asking you to go out and buy a wired phone to test.
You STILL haven't given me ANY information to diganose what your real problem is. I'm still willing to help, if you want help. If not, OK, that's fine. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. Peace.
