I can't believe I'm dealing with another of these linksys firmware problems. The problem I was trying to solve was the routers inability to forward DNS requests. Like some of the members above, I have 6 machines in the house, 3 being laptops that need to be mobile, setting fixed dns servers on all of them is less than ideal for me.

At any rate, I had a couple of questions.

I tried the tftp link specified above and I'm not sure if this is finishing correctly. The file size I have is 3.68MB (3,866,632 bytes). Is this correct?

The second problem is that I can no longer login as "user/tivonpw" the router responds with " Error: User not allowed to login this user level " this happened after I called tech support and they told me to reset it. I seemed to be able to login when it was new.

At this point they have told me to return this thing, I'm overly dissapointed in this piece of hardware and the level of suppor that they are able to offer. I'm not even sure if a new one will solve the problems, if I can't get the new one to upgrade, I will have to return that one as well.

Can this router be forced to tftp from a local machine?

I have tried doing this on firmware v. 1.00.18, and still get nowhere. At first, i was getting the " Error: User not allowed to login this user level ". However, after logging in as admin, and trying again with "user, tivonpw", I get a different error: " Error: User not enabled to login into the system. " Has anyone else experienced this? Is there another user/password that will work?
