Keep in mind that the VT2442 is NOT a wireless router if you need wireless capabilities. Were you thinking of switching out the NetGear for the VT2442 or the PAP2 for the VT2442? Your comment of "Switching is something I am considering" is where you confused me as to which one you are switching for. With the Motorola VT2542, the settings would be lost if the device was rebooted or if there was a temporary loss of power. You may want to search the forum to see if this was also the case with the VT2442.
