Just my two cents - I have used the Cisco ATA186, the Moto VT1005, the Linksys RT31P2, the Linksys RTP300, and I just recently picked up the little D-Link VTA. Of all of those devices, I probably liked the old Cisco ATA186 and the D-Link VTA the best, for similar reasons. I disliked both Linksys units (RT31P2 and RTP300) because firmware revisions that Vonage pushed down to them always seemed to introduce new problems, mostly with the audio!
I never had trouble with the Motorola VT1005, but it seemed to take a long time to boot sometimes. I love the VTA because it restarts quickly. The ONLY thing I do not like about the VTA is the web interface is quite minimal, and it doesn't allow me to change the web management TCP port to anything other than the default (port 80). Yuck. But as far as getting on the phone and talking on it, I would much rather use the VTA than ever using another one of their Linksys devices. You never know what new problems you're going to wake up to tomorrow when Vonage performs their 'upgrade'.
