In my opinion, it is more important to get extended run time rather than high power output for the backup device. Connecting your broadband adapter and phone adapter will only draw few watts from the system.
Therefore, what you should be looking for is a device with higher capacity batteries. Most computer-oriented UPS have very weak batteries (10Ah or less). For the APC 1500VA UPS, it uses a RBC7 battery which is a 17Ah unit, which is better.
When I got rid of my land line to only keep Vonage, I replaced my Tripplite 750VA UPS (with a 7Ah battery) with a very interesting device. It only outputs 400W (which is several times more than what most VOIP phone setups use) but it has a 40Ah battery. In this case, it would give you twice the run-time the APC 1500VA could give you.
If you're in Canada, the device is sold by CanadianTire under the name NOMA Backup Power 400. If you're in the USA, the device is the Xantrex Powersource 400. They are both the same device and you can get them for less than $199. When in sale, I saw them at regularly at $149 and even down to $99.
