Just a heads-up for anyone who cares, I'll be switching to myphonecompany now since they have the 559 area code. I didn't want to, because I like the quality of Vonage; plus after I get my $50 rebate back I'll have paid only 10 bucks for the box, which is better than "borrowing" the box from myphonecompany at the risk of a over $100 charge in the event that I don't return it within 14 days of my cancellation.
But anyway, I'm coming up on 1 week with Vonage and while it's been nice, I really need to have a local number, as do several family members and friends who live in the 559 area code. They said if this new service works out for me then they'll go ahead and get it too. I really wish it could have been Vonage, as I've already said the service has been great. Funny that Vonage sells their Voip hardware at the local stores, but don't support the local numbers. I'm sure a lot of people assumed they could get the service. Anyway, if Vonage ever comes to our area, I'll consider coming back. I doubt my famiy will considering they are not as picky about features, but I just might.
Oh, and after another reply to Vonage, all they could tell me is that if it ever comes to this area, they would email me. That is fine, but if they could have at least told me they were working on getting it here by the end of the year, I would have stuck around. Seems a waste to be spending all of those advertising dollars here in this area and not even have a 559 code for people to use.
Well, sorry this post was sort-of all over the place. I hope this information interested someone out there.
