I was planning on using the router I already have (Linksys WRT54G) plus the PAP2 telephone adapter. Would the WRT54G support the "QoS prioritization" you were talking about? What would be a good website where I can read about QoS prioritization and how to implement it?

I have high speed cable internet, but sadly I frequently experience limited upload speeds, which is bad news for my phone.
I hunted down a codec for my RT31P2 that uses less bandwidth when sending audio out.
Call Vonage teck support - they should be able to walk you through it, and download it to your router for you. It really helped my phone consistency.
FYI, my upload speed is advertised as 512 kbps, but it's rarely over 200, and the lowest it goes - which happens a lot - is under 10 kbps! When that happens, my phone won't work, but if I wait for traffic to reduce, it gets better.
Anyways, my point was that with the new codec (was g.726, now g.729), I can use the phone with less problems.
