Vonage It should have worked. If you're SURE you're wired in 568A, then pair 1 (blue/blue-white)

It should have worked. If you're SURE you're wired in 568A, then pair 1 (blue/blue-white) should be on the center two pins. That pair should be feeding your main phone service throughout the house.

You have to make certain that the two active wires from the Moto box go to the right pair of pins on your RJ45 jacks (should be those two center pins). I would do the following:

- Fabricate a breakout cable set in two parts, one that terminates at an RJ45 plug (wired 568A) on one end and has all 8 wires available on the other. The other cable should have a standard RJ11 plug on one end and the two wires (red and green) available on the other, easily made by cutting a regular phone line and stripping the wires at one end.

- Start with the POTS incoming wire disconnected and plug your 8 conductor RJ45 plug into your house wiring

- Plug the RJ11 plug into the Moto box

- Start with jumping the RJ11's red and green wires to the RJ45's blue and blue-white. Check for dial tones in the house wiring

- If there is none, I hate to tell you, but your wiring doesn't see right. Try another pair of the RJ45's wires. Work through orange/orange-white, green/green-white and brown/brown-white, checking for a dial tone every time. You should hit it on one of the pairs. If you don't, something is REALLY weird.

- You may want to check for proper polarity at a jack, use a Radio Shack phone outlet tester to do that (but it's hardly critical with most equipment these days).

- Finally, make a permanent cable to replace your breakout cable to match whatever configuration worked, RJ11 (Moto box end) to RJ45 (house end) with one pair of wires.

Clear?
