Since the voicemail indicator is on the two phone devices, honestly, I cannot give any recommendations, because these are third party devices with their own set of configurations, etc... I have limited knowledge on how Vonage and third party devices interact "on the voicemail level" , so to speak.
In relation to raijenkin's reply, maybe there's some function on the phone devices themselves that allows them to "refresh" their settings, without having to turn off the said devices?
Question #2: Do your phones have their own voicemail function, like an answering machine/voicemail (sort of function) ? Or are you hearing Vonage's own voicemail message? If your phones have answering machine/voicemail functions, maybe you can turn off your Vonage voicemail, then just use the voicemail functions on the phones themselves.. or something like that... (sorry, I'm no help at all at this)
Regarding the voicemail indicators on the Vonage device itself, if you notice that the phone light indicators on phone 1/'2 are slowly blinking then that means you've got voicemail waiting.

modem> vonage device -> kitchen
• My hookup:
Cable Modem=>Vonage adapter (WRT54GP2)=>phone jack
