It appears that the difficulties you are having may be associated with FTP or perhaps the acutal pictures you are FTP'ing.
A couple of common problems with pictures on webs:
1.) If the reference to the picure is named like "picture.jpeg" on the web site, and you are uploading picture.jpg; they will not show, since the file name is essentially a different name.
2.) The type of picture you are uploading may not be supported on the web server (.png etc.) Also sometimes, a certain browser configuration may not show a certain type of file like .png(I ran into this once . . .never figured out why)
3.) You may be putting the picture in the wrong directory (folder), than the web site is looking for the picture at "http://www.mywebsite.com/images/picture.jpg", but you put the picture at "http://www.mywebsite.com/picture.jpg" To trouble shoot this, right click where the picture should be and select properties from the drop down. As an example, if you do this on the "Try Vonage 1 month free!" ad on the left of this forum, you will see "http://www.vonage-forum.com/images/vf160x600.gif". Verify the location to where you are uploading to.
4.) Lastly, the picture you are uploading may be too large and takes a long time to download and render on your browser. In this case, resize the picture, for xp try Microsoft's power toys, the Image Resizer, see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx. For VISTA use VSO's resizer at http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/
FTP:
If you are having an error with the FTP, there should be a dialog at the bottom of CUTE FTP that shows a number of things as you ftp the files. You may wish to post that dialog here. The most common problem with FTP is firewall issues on the web server, which may require active or passive mode. See the article at http://www.ncftp.com/ncftpd/doc/misc/ftp_and_firewalls.html.
Their recommendations that may apply to you:
1. Use passive (PASV) mode from within your FTP client whenever possible.
2. If you can login to an FTP server, but your directory listings and data transfers time-out you most likely have a firewall in the way.
3. Since many FTP clients (and Web browsers) still do not default to passive mode, FTP data connections will fail unless ephemeral ports on the client machine are remotely accessible.
