Call Before You Dig
Vonage is proud to offer 811 Dialing which provides free access to your local services to ensure it is safe for you to dig. If you're planning on digging a ditch, putting an addition on your house, or adding a new pool, you'll want to dial 811 first to make sure you're not going to hit any pipes or utilities.
How Does it Work?
When you dial 811, your call is routed from the Vonage network to a public information center in your area.*
Your local center will then notify the local utilities who will mark where underground utilities are located and where it is safe to dig.
*Note that 811 access depends on its availability within your area.
When Do I Call?
It is typically suggested to call at least 3 business days before you are planning to dig to give the utility companies time to mark where their underground pipes are. Each state sets their own timelines and procedures so be sure to check what they need when you call. In many states it is the law to call before you dig so protect yourself!
