Interesting follow-up to my Yarmouth/Hyannis, MA number port.

As I posted before, the Availibility tool is now telling me that 508-771 "can't be transferred" (even though it said it could when I started the LNP process).

Yet, the LNP transfer was scheduled for 8/22 (Carrier approved) and I was worried I would have lots of problems.

Yesterday morning, I woke up and found that I couldn't call the number from my cell and that it gave a fast busy because Verizon had dumped the line as scheduled.. But people not being able to call in is scary since it would confuse the heck out of them.

This morning though, all was working fine and calls go through w/o a hitch.

So... Vonage first says that they CAN transfer a number only to then change the tool and say they CAN'T transfer a number (as so many of us have had to deal with). Yet, the number port goes through fine w/o any big problems? (a 1 day interruption is minor compared to what stories I've heard others have had)

Basically, the Vonage availibility database is crap......

As I posted before, as long as the carrier has access to the LATA, they should be able to transfer from every rate center in the LATA.

My current theory is that the availibility database is only made up of NPA-NXX's (area codes/exchanges) that they have successfully transferred from and that they only find out when they try to push through a port?

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I have just had an identical experience: initiated Vonage service on two SBC numbers
My head hurts...
It's a pretty dynamic thing though...I would imagine it would always depend on

Oh, BTW, I found out that here in Eastern Massachusetts, Vonage's CLEC partner
