In order for you to sign up for the unlimited plan in the states you need a U.S address or a billing address for you credit card.

I know what you are saying about the price difference, but that has nothing to do with the currency exchange.

Even when you pay the $39.99 plus taxes you are still saving compared to a regular phone line with all the features.

You could go with the limited plan of 500 minutes and use your computer to make calls which don't count against your minutes, using Vonage Talk, nothing about this on the Vonage Canada site.

I would sign up for the unlimited plan first and then if you want to downgrade do that withing the first 30 days otherwise there is a charge of about $12 or $14

You will enjoy Vonage, but Vonage is only as good as your internet connection. If you have DSL make sure you can have a dry DSL hook up from your provider otherewise you won't have the internet when you go and cancel your home phone.
