In November I thought I would give Vonage a try. Verizon had told me I could have a stand alone modem. In theory I could, but not in fact. The area in which I live does not have stand alone modem service. I was then without telephone, and internet service. This was a real problem especially at the time I doing substitute teaching. The school system calls me on the morning of the day they need a teacher. No phone - no work. :(

My number was to be ported over in December. I was told Vonage would not port my number for 30 days. I was then informed that I would be charged a termination fee because I was not terminating the service before my 30 day trial period was over.

So much for the free month - Comcast provided me with a temporary number and I was able to forward calls to my old number to the temporary number. There have been 3 work orders. Vonage has said they would port over the number each time and gave a date that it would take place. It never happened. I was last told that my number would port over in March. I cancelled my Vonage account in April only to find out the number did not port over again. I now have a new position where I also get called to respond. Now that my account is closed, all a caller gets is that the number is not in service. Vonage has been of no help, and seems only interested in prolonging my payments to them. :x

I would like my old number to be given over to Comcast and the termination charges waived. I already have paid for 4 months of service I have not used. At this point I am ready to complain to the Consumer Protection Dep in MA and NJ. Under 93B MA allows for triple damages. I would rather not go through this process but I do not know how else to get my old number back and the termination fee waived. Any Ideas?
