Vonage If you have no desire to keep your Verizon number, Vonage will issue you a number

If you have no desire to keep your Verizon number, Vonage will issue you a number depending on your physical location. You can request a chicago, new york or california number. Hopefully you can even request a "local" number so that when people call you it is a local call. If for instance you had a lot of callers in one city and you live in another city you could request and additional virtual number that would be local to those callers. Vonage can not cancel your verizon service, you as the bill payer must do that. You could get a dual wireless phone lilke motorola or vtech that has an extra charger and leave that downstairs. Your main phone will need to be by the computer connecton however. Unless you plug into the "house" wiring in which case all the phone jacks will become Vonage lines. Hope this helps a bit.
