If this is a WRTP54G, please check the firmware version. The WRTP54G was and is known for having problems getting beyond some older firmware, and to put it mildly the handling of call waiting on the old firmware was "fragile".

If you are not on at least firmware 1.00.52 or so, then don't expect call waiting to work well at all. The current version is 1.00.62. You can check your firmware version from any of the screens on the router setup (it is in the upper right corner of the screen).

This is a recurring theme with the WRTP54G routers. Vonage is apparently STILL shipping them with old firmware, or people are getting old stock.

If you are on a really old release, (1.00.18 seems to be the usual place to get stuck), then you need to "force" an upgrade to the firmware. There is one firmware switch, I think the 1.00.18 -> 1.00.20 upgrade, that frequently fails to happen automatically. The WRTP54G simply doesn't have enough memory to take that major upgrade. Fortunately, once it gets past that barrier, firmware upgrades are smooth from that point onward, so this is a one-time hassle.

The easiest way to "force" this is as follows:

1. Turn off the wireless side of the router by setting Wireless Type to DISABLED (wireless takes up memory, so this frees up the memory you need to do the upgrade).

2. Pull power to the router, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in (this forces the router to re-connect to Vonage, and part of the startup process it to check for any firmware upgrades available).

3. Leave the router connected like this for a little while. The upgrade *should* happen automatically. If you see the power light blinking soon after it powers up, LEAVE IT ALONE until it stops!!!!!

If you don't have the upgrade within an hour or two, call Customer Service and they should be able to force the upgrade for you. Leave wireless turned off so there's enough memory for them to do the upgrade.

If all else fails, there is a way to upgrade the firmware yourself, and an image available to do it with.

The topic refers to 1.00.60 builds, which are not the latest, but the upgrade from 1.00.60 to 1.00.62 is automatic and should happen on its own.

You can, of course, skip straight to loading the firmware yourself. Your call. But I'd let the automatic upgrade have a shot at it first. ;)

Call waiting not getting through

Yes, the call waiting status is set to "on".
if re-cycling your phone adapter doesn't solve the problem you'll need to contact
When I'm on the phone, and another call tries to come in, the second call will go
Have you signed onto your account and "enabled" call waiting on the features tab?
mind to ask, what device are you currently using..???
