Vonage I would like to post my setup as it resolves a lot of issues I was having with sharing

I would like to post my setup as it resolves a lot of issues I was having with sharing between the two routers.

I wanted the Voip router attached directly to the internet as the wireless sometimes locks when people in the house use P2P software and this causes loss of phone service, as well it seemed to reduce latency.

Router 1 Vonage RTPS300 Connected to the internet
Router 2 WRT54G

Router 1 settings:

I turned off QOS to allow fater downloads on the Applications and Gaming section on the QOS tab

Local IP 192.168.1.254
Subnet mask 255.255.255.128
DHCP: enabled
DHCP range anywhere from 192.168.1.129 to 192.168.1.252
I used 192.168.1.150 with 50 addresses

Advanced routing tab

Route name: wireless
Destination LAN IP: 192.168.1.0
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.128
Gateway:192.168.1.253
Interface:local

after connecting to the internet you can make a note of your DNS servers on your status tab

To connect to this router after the settings remember it is now 192.168.1.254. If not using DHCP to connect remember to set the last octet your subnet mask on you network card to 128.

Router 2:

Static IP: 192.168.1.253
Subnet mask 255.255.255.128
Gateway: 192.168.1.254
DNS 192.168.1.254 and any others you found on your status tab of the 1st router (optional)

Local IP 192.168.1.1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.128
DHCP enable
DHCP range anywhere from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.127
I used 192.168.1.50 with 50 addresses

Advanced routing: turn off NAT by changing from gateway to router

Add a route:
Route name: Vonage
Destination LAN IP: 192.168.1.128
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.128
Default gateway:192.168.123.254
Interface:WAN

on the security tab you can turn off all the firewall protection as the first router is providing it.

Turn on remote management on the admin tab, so that you are able to access the wireless router from the first router

Done..

You can access the 1st router using 192.168.1.254 and the 2nd using 192.168.1.1

Any machines connected to the 1st router with have IP's from .129 to .252

Any machines connected to the 2nd router with have IP's from .2 to .127

* If you use and port forwarding do it all on the 1st router as they are both now on the same subnet

Problem with RTP300 and p2p

Hi guys, I just got my router today. After hooking it up, I only ran into the problem
I have no answer for the question as asked, but if the old hub was doing what you need
Since the port range forwarding doesn't have any impact with throughput speeds,
Oh, Trek. You are the man! This fixed it almost immediately. My girlfriend
Trekologer, I haven't been able to access the Vonage RTP300 since connecting
You'll have to plug a computer directly into the RTP300 in order to access its settings.
I'll give it a try. Thanks!
