I would assume it's possible but I'm just assuming since I'm not an electrical engineer. But remember that most internet communication is 2-way cause of handshaking between client and host. The upstream communications in this case are very small but if the host doesn't receive one periodically, it stops pumping you the information. Hence the perspective that you are not receiving signal either. Just a question? Did you have your modem adjusted since you started experiencing drops. Plus what is the signal noice ratio (probably mid 30's I would guess). The funny thing is after they adjusted my modem, my Signal Noise # has dropped to 34dB from a 35-36 range.
