I was thinking one line in, one line out... I've not seen too many small PBXs with buffers in them that would allow you to use one line like that. If you're using the PBX & 2 lines to transfer, you can have it answer the first line, require the user to dial an extension (password) so that the whole world isn't using it, and then it'd connect to the extension, which is forwarded to outside line #2, the vonage box, and you'd get the Vonage dialtone.
The issue I see with the single line deal is that you need to find a way to get the PBX to answer, listen, make note of the number dialed by the person calling in, wait, flash, #90 + number, flash. That's quite a few steps to attempt using a traditional small PBX call forwarding, etc. If you know of one, I'm all ears... as I wouldn't mind doing something like this myself. On the larger systems (AT&T/Lucent/Avaya Definity, etc) this can be done pretty easily, but I don't know who'd want a 4' tall PBX sitting in their house, or where they'd put it....They are fun toys (2400 extensions, 400 trunk lines), but still a bit large for home use.
Now, one alternative...is if the callers don't need to dial all that many numbers... they could use different extensions programmed w/different numbers and do it that way. Limiting, but still allows one line to be used for everything.
Alternative idea #2... What happens in you have a call on the line, hit FLASH, dial the #90, then hit FLASH again? does it cancel the call transfer or does it give the incoming call a dial tone? I know the aforementioned Definity system would give a dialtone.
