I've had Vonage several months and have been very pleased - a few small glitches - but to be expected - especially for the cost.

My setup:
Comcast Cable Modem (Moto SB100)
Linksys WRT54G Router - plugged into the cable modem
Moto VT1005 Vonage box and 2 PC's plugged into the Linksys router.

I've read and searched and even know a little about routing - but something has me stumped.

I have the Vonage box plugged into the router with the connection in the WAN port - which I know is correct and all works well.

What I'd like to do is see the internal web pages on the VT1005 without having to unplug and plug cables. The only way I've found described and the only way that seems to work is to plug one of my PC's directly into the PC port on the VT1005. The VT1005 DHCP server then hands my pc an IP address in the 192.168.102.X range - I can see the web pages, status etc.

Here's my catch. Why can't I plug the PC port of the VT1005 into my Linksys as well? I think this causes a routing loop - not sure - but when I really look at it and draw it out - it looks like it should work. I added a route to my linksys router - to direct traffic to 192.168.102.X to the LAN/Wireless segment - not out the WAN side of the router - I'm not positive that route took - it shows up on the page - but when I click on teh button to see the routing table it isn't there.

To say the least - with that route in place - when I open the browser and try to get to 192.168.102.1 - I never get a response from the browser - and soon after my Vonage quits working as well - this is why I suspect some sort of loop. But with the route for 192.168.102.X to stay on the LAN - I would expect the VT1005 to see the traffic and respond. I know my PC IP address is from the 192.168.1.X range - but I thought this router was good enough to route between the two different segments. I've tried changing all of the masks to be 255.255.0.0 - which should allow routing between all of the networks since that is a class B mask- but something didn't work as I really expected it.

Anyone have any feedback - or know my routing isn't working as I expected?
