Vonage I've had Vonage for over a year now and I thought I knew everything there was to know,



I've had Vonage for over a year now and I thought I knew everything there was to know, wrong! My last billing cycle, which ended on July 6th, was the first month that I used the basic 500 plan. So on the evening of the 6th around 6:30pmCST I logged into my account and saw that I had about 200 minutes remaining, so I figured I would make a few calls to get my moneys worth out of that month. Bad idea because I got screwed instead. The calls I made were not deducted from my remaining minutes for my billing cycle that ended on July 6th but rather they were deducted from my next billing cycle that started on July 7th. So essentially I start my new billing cycle down a 100 minutes.

So I give a call to customer service, I won't go into detail about how terrible and rude they (they because I called twice hoping to get a different answer but it was just another 30 minutes wasted) were because most people on this forum know that by now, I explain my concern and that is when I am told that Vonage uses GMT. I tell her that I have never seen that information anywhere on the website and she acts like I am just supposed to know. After the fact, I did find the information after scouring through the billing section of the help page. But my question to her was, why doesn't Vonage post that information in the billing section of the online account so it is clearly visible to all subscribers. So after a long hold she tells me that if I check all my previous bills, I can see the same thing when I have made calls on the last day of my billing cycle. I tell here fine, but then she should have seen that this is the first month that I haven't used the unlimited plan so I could of cared less in the previous months what billing cycle the minutes are deducted from. My final point was this. If my billing cycle had essentially already ended as of 6:00pmCST why did my account still show the previous months information and not the new information for the billing cycle that started on the 7th? They were able to make sure the calls I made on the 6th were charged to the next billing cycle but they can't show me that my account has already reset for the next month? Of course no decent answer and no minutes credited back as of yet.

So I just wanted to let everyone know, who already didn't, that Vonage uses GMT to base your account times on. Of course for people on the unlimited this doesn't really matter. And Vonage basically expects you to know what time their systems refresh and that they use a time zone practically in Europe. Good Day.
