Vonage I've had Vonage for a little over two years now so, I feel I have a little experience
I've had Vonage for a little over two years now so, I feel I have a little experience under my belt.
If you are considering Vonage as your Voip provider, let me tell you my experiences over the past two-plus years so you can make an intelligent decision.
First and foremost, I realized BEFORE jumping into it that Voip was and still is, a relatively new technology with a lot of trial and error stuff going on. I knew going into it that there were going to be some glitches and even though my patience factor isn't all that great, I resigned myself to that fact knowing that the rewards would far outweigh the glitches. If you are one of those folks that want perfection from the git-go. Perhaps Voip isn't for you. I waded through a lot of echos, one-way conversations, etc. and gave Vonage a chance to work. It has. I have outstanding connectivity. So good, in fact, I added a toll-free line.
Tech support - I see LOTS of complaints regarding tech support. Having worked a help desk at one point in my life, I firmly believe in the adage, "The person that coined the cliche - There's no such thing as a stupid question - has never worked at tech support." Folks, if you're not going to listen to what they have to say, why bother calling in the first place? How many times have you done something over and over and over to have the same results? BUT, you try it just that one last time and for some magical reason... it works. Nuff' said. Don't you think that the guy on the other end is getting just as frustrated as you? Maybe the reason he's having you try something for the 75,000th time is because he's tweaking something at HIS end and wants to try it for results. Sure, I've been a little ticked, too. But, remember... he really MIGHT know something you don't and to give him a chance or three.
If you've been out on the web and read the reviews/opinions of the various Voip providers, you know that Vonage gives the most bang for the buck. BUT, like I said in the beginning of this epistle - it ain't perfect. Nuthin is. Will it get better? You bet! The first microwave oven didn't just magically appear one day.
