I've had Vonage for a couple of years now. No problems, but two weeks ago I moved five blocks and had Comcast wire up the house. The speeds seem good but the QOS measure is HORRIBLE (sub 50%)
And folks on the other end of the line seem to have difficulty hearing me from time to time, everything from static to voice just completely dropping. Could it be the QOS? And how does one get Comcast to fix that - they just look at up and down speeds that seem fine, so worried about the brush off and the $50 fee for calling when there is "no problem".
I did have one problem a while back (the other house) where the power levels were off on the modem, Comcast came by and fixed the splitter and all was well. Not sure what the proper power levels and noise levels should be on this Arris 502G, - so I've attached that data at the bottom too (you get to it by typing http://192.168.100.1/cm_state.htm into your browser). Can people give me a sense as to whether these modem specs are off or look reasonable.
I also upped the quality with the bandwidth saver. Don't know if this helps (grabs more bandwidth) or hurts (needs more bandwidth, so is more fragile).
I'm even contemplating going back to horrible old land-lines just to get decent reliability. Thanks again for any help.
