Vonage I used vonage for about a month without any trouble regarding the actual phone
I used Vonage for about a month without any trouble regarding the actual phone calls (much trouble with my replay, though) and starting on Friday Feb 11, I could neither create a call nor receive a call reliably. My connections haven't changed nor have they come loose and I've checked my Bandwidth and packet loss with the online Voip tools (testyourvoip.com) and don't see any problem.
Trying to characterize when the problem occurs has been difficult, but I do think there may be an association with when I'm actually *using* the internet, for example, downloading and uploading files, to when I have a higher incidence of dropped calls.
I also have a major problem with having been given a ROUTER (with phone adapter), rather than a simple phone adapter. I have another router in my system, and the two routers apparently fight, judging by logs. I wish I could have gotten what was advertised - a simple phone adapter with NO ROUTER!
Also, I'm on comcast, the other router is a motorola wireless SBG900 cable modem gateway (latest and greatest technology, so that's not the issue here....).
I cannot recommend Vonage, no way. The service doesn't seem to work, they guarantee that they will get billions of customer support calls by giving out a complicated router (thus making it almost certain that anyone who is trying to use wireless and therefore has their own router already is going to have problems with the 2 routers interfering), and then they cannot answer the help line nor give any help when they do answer. It's pretty bad right now - definitely not ready for prime time.
My advice is go back to the land line.
