Vonage I tried a month ago to get Vonage Talk to work after reading and posting on the Vonage

I tried a month ago to get Vonage Talk to work after reading and posting on the Vonage thread above. My post is the last post on page 8 of that thread.

https://forums.vonage.com/showthread.php?t=719&page=8

Still getting the message "SIP account is not connected" after doing all of the following:

Disable Windows Firewall
WRT54G router enable UPnP
WRT54G router port forward 5060-5061
WRT54G router port forward 10000
WRT54G router port forward 10050-10150
Added new line to the Hosts file as specified: 69.59.232.110 a.vonim.com
Signed out and signed in
Rebooted system

I tried waiting while signed in, then signing out and back in, but Task Manager does not indicate that Vonage Talk is doing anything such as running a setup.

Another oddity is I have one contact with a phone number. When I first click the phone for this entry on the Contacts page, and then click the menu with the number to dial, nothing at all happens, not even the "SIP account is not connected" message. Then, if I visit the Keypad page and try to dial any manually entered number from there I get the "SIP account is not connected" message. When I return to the Contacts page and try the Contact's phone again, now I do get the "SIP account is not connected" message.

I have not powered down and restarted the Motorola VT2442 router/phone adapter that I use just as a phone adapter for Vonage calls throughout the house that is connected to port 4 of the WRT54G with WRT54G QOS (manual 1440) set High.

It does not seem that the state of the VT2442 would have anything to do with getting PC based Vonage calls to work with Vonage Talk. Brightstar's signature in that Vonage form thread refers to rebooting "the device" before calling. Does "the device" refer to a device like the VT2442 that I do have, does it refer to some device that can be used with Vonage V-Phone which I do not have, does it mean the computer on which Vonage Talk is installed, or none of the above?

OS is Windows XP Pro SP 3 on a Intel P4/2.8Mhz CPU 1 Gb RAM

Uninstalling and re-installing Vonage Talk did not help.

My regular Vonage service has been flawless.

Signing up for Vonage Talk

I downloaded Vonage talk. How do I sign up so I have the log in information?
Use the same username and password that you use to login to your web account.
Thank you. I entered the wrong information before. That is why it was not working. It

Thanks for the reply. I did not do anything, but it started to work.
If you are a new user to Vonage Talk, the fiirst time you log in with your username/password
That makes sense. Thank you. I'm glad that it is working properly now.
UPDATE: I tried powering down the VT2442 and it had no effect on the Vonage Talk
Vonage Talk should work with or without your Vonage device powered on or disconnected.
