Vonage I travel overseas often on business. I can say that I have used Vonage successfully



I travel overseas often on business. I can say that I have used Vonage successfully in Singapore, Thailand, China, Panama, Colombia and Brazil. I have the Linksys RT31P2 device as pictured below.

Here are my biggest gripes:
1) Doesn't support 220v/240v. Seriously - how difficult is it to procure equipment that supports higher voltages? Almost every friggin electronics device I own supports it. I am not even asking for a plug converter, just be able to support to voltage! Most hotels have ample supply of plug converters, but much smaller supplies of voltage step-down converters from 240v to 110v.

2) Size. Again, I travel internationally, not across the street. I need things as small as possible. This not only makes getting from point A to point B possible, but it also allows me to secure the items better since I can keep them in my carry on instead of with my bags that I've checked-in which get thrown around, and possibly worse, lost.

3) I haven't come across this yet,. but what do I do when I arrive at a ultra-modern hotel, or older hotel that never bothered to wire their rooms, and they tell me they have no wired connections, just wifi? With wifi becoming increasingly ubiquitious (just think, it's almost impossible find a new laptop for sale without wifi built-in), hotels that decided to wait out the high-cost of wiring every room will find implmenting wireless to be a cheaper, more cost effective solution.

Other than that, I love the concept and appreciate the quality. It has saved me tons of cash-I remember one three week trip to the Far East w/o Vonage where I spent about 30-60 minutes per day calling back to the US with my AT&T Callling card where I racked up close to $900 in toll charges. Those days are (hopefully) long gone.

Still, let's not forget that most hotels overseas charge $10-$25 per 24 hours of broadband service. This is a cost that I have not factored in, because fortunately for me, my employer picks up the cost of broadband.

If you do have any solutions to my dilemmas, I'd be more than happy to hear it!
