Vonage I think the group's current recommendation for cable modems is the Motorola SB5100

I think the group's current recommendation for cable modems is the Motorola SB5100 (not the 5120). This modem is also on Charter's recommended list.

I would ditch the 2.4 GHz cordless phones for 5.8 GHz models to avoid interference with your wireless network. This is where you should spend the bulk of your money.

Now, depending on the number of handsets you want and how comfortable you are with rewiring your house you are going to need to decide whether to use a multi-hanset wireless setup or connect your Vonage adapter to your house wiring.

One option for you would be the VTech IP81000. This would serve as your Vonage device and phone. This will not be suitable if you want to send faxes, have an alarm system that needs a phone line or any other device that likes to dial out (satellite receiver, TiVo).

Another option if you would prefer not to wire the house is to get a multihandset phone system and a stand alone Vonage adapter. There are people on the boards who have recommended multi-handset phone systems before, hopefully one of them will chime in, or you can try searching the forums.

With no preference specified I would use Vonage voice mail because of the features, make sure the phone you buy has a message waiting light.

The D-Link and Motorola adapters are free. The Motorola adds a router that you won't use based on what you have said. Alternatively you could replace your exisitng router with the Vonage Linksys wireless router. This would probably be a waste of $50.
