Vonage Reviews

Vonage I signed up for vonage 2 weeks ago and after a week and three adapter later I was able

I signed up for Vonage 2 weeks ago and after a week and three adapter later I was able to get my service up and running. It was not on Vonage end though because I had a wireless router before I got the Vonage router and when I got the Vonage I removed my wireless router and somehow the new settings were not being picked up by my new router until a very good technical service guy asked me what connection I had before I got the Vonage adapter and I told him and he said that was the problem to just connect back my wireless router which I did and everything started to work.

Now the service itself with Vonage is really nice. I've had verizon who was bell atlantic and before was new york telephone for years and I just wasn't getting what I was paying for anymore. I changed because of the price and the fact that I had a cell phone and was hardly using the home phone anyway. I finally looked at my bill one month and I was paying $65 for a phone where all I did was made 100 local calls during the month and I believe one local call unlimted is about .10 a call. to pay $65 for calls that amount to about $10 was jsut out of the question for me and when I did tell them to drop my service to pay per call get this.. before they even start to bill for calls my bill is $18 to start out with then I would pay per call + any calling features I want.

So that's when I was online one day and saw att callvantage and I took a look over it and was curious. I knew nothing about the service so I looked up Voip over the internet and found some good reviews on Vonage so I went to their website and was happy with what I saw on the website.

I've been up and running with Vonage for about a week now and I must say everything has been good so far. The calls are great and comes in very clearly "TWC roadrunner ISP". I think I've had a call from Alabama dropped once or twice but big deal that's what redial was made for in the 1st place. I have a vtech cordless with extra handsets and it works fine. caller id/ new message indicator. I've told all my friends about my new phone company and the cost $24.99 a month and they are always shocked that I'm talking to them over the internet.

My only gripe right now is that 212 area code is not available. I find it odd that here in NYC with 8 million people, about 80% of those people living in the outter boroughs brooklyn, queens, bronx and staten island and we have two local area codes within the city 212/718 where everyone in the outter boroughs have a 718 area code however the 212 area code is not available. I don't mind having my 718 area code but I would have liked my 212.

Far as technical service, yea, it takes awhile to get someone on the phone but at least they always there and willing to help. Not sure if Vonage outsource there customer service/technical service because all the people I've talked to had thick new jersey accents plus if u really want to know if they in new jersey just ask them how close is another town close by like New Brunswick
