Vonage I purchased the PAP2 adapter before leaving on temporary assignment to Hong Kong

I purchased the PAP2 adapter before leaving on temporary assignment to Hong Kong for a few months, where I am staying in corporate housing that uses a broadband connection similar to most hotels (initial log-in screen...done once and always remembered).

I've been able to get place and receive calls, but when I come home sometimes I'll dial my home office voicemail and can tell no audio is going either way (the Vonage call log will show a connection to the number). Or a friend will call and I can't hear them, nor can they hear me.

I've tried to setup everything according to other post in the forum when dealing with hotel connections. Here are the details:

Hotel Connection -> TP-LINK router -> laptop in one connection, PAP2 in another. Simple wired phone.

Router receives a dynamic IP from the hotel. PAP2 is set to static. Picked up the TP-LINK router here in HK...it doesn't have the ability to properly port forward a range, just individual ports (so I have 53, 63, 5060 and 5061 as trigger ports with incoming ports for all that include those four plus the 10000-20000 range). On the TP-LINK, I've enabled DMZ for the PAP2 in an effort to help with this porting issue.

On router:

WAN:

IP Address: 172.16.5.69
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 172.16.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
DNS: Uses the hotel's DNS address.

LAN:

IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

On the PAP2:

IP Address: 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: Uses the hotel's DNS address

I have cloned the MAC address of the router to match the PC, as I authenticated with it originally.

From what I've read, I've assumed a couple of potential issues, aside from something as simple as not having a setting properly placed:

- Port forwarding...seems like most of the audio problems are related to this. Since my router really isn't properly doing this, I'm thinking of getting a Linksys or other reliable router. But since I've been able to make and receive calls, is it possible port forwarding is an issue? Would I sometimes be able to make calls and sometimes not?

- NAT...am I trying to overcome something that I can't due to NAT on the hotel's end? I've read about registration intervals...could that be changed to send out a frequent request so that the path stays viable (I'm sure there's a more eloquent technical description for that).

Also, below are the results from the Voip test:

Speed test statistics

Packets out of order: 0.0 %

Any help would be greatly appreciated...the forum has been very helpful so far...I just can't seem to get over this last hurdle. Thanks.

Well, I won't claim to understand, but neither will I argue with success. Enjoy!
