Modem stats seem within normal since I moved the splitters (the High speed internet cable was on a second splitter. I moved it up to the top and the numbers went back to normal on the modem. I was able to make a phone call Sunday night before midnight, but today was unable again, even though the modem signal is about the same as it was after I moved it up on the connection.

Questions: Is it normal to see errors on the first two hops for pingplotter (my router and modem)
Is it normal to see a timeout on the modem on tracert?
Are discarded packets outside the boundaries of normal?
My modem is docsis 1.1. I just bought it a few months ago. Will replacing it help?
What should I do next? I am not sure I understand the suggestions to slow down the packets.

thanks...
