Vonage I'm glad to see it in writing. It would be interesting to see what is happening on

I'm glad to see it in writing. It would be interesting to see what is happening on their end. I am an optimist and really think they must have a reason to not offer yet. The only bad thing is they may be paranoid and ultra conservative like some other companies. I can't say I am not a perfectionist and get behind because of my detailing. I know other companies offer it. And with our free economy we can choose other companies. I don't think Vonage has all the answers yet but, when I surveyed the options for a provider I did not find anybody that had most of my desires except that I am saving a lot of money. I expect there will be a lot of leap frogging among companies as the technology for Voip matures.

Why did I choose this one?

(1) My POTS provider at the time also had a cell contract with me. They were arrogant and made me mad when I lived in this area 15 years ago. I move here again, find they are about the only provider where I live. They were the only company that claimed their cell service worked here. And they haven't changed. Still arrogant but bigger. That is really the main reason I jumped to Voip other than saving money. So I dare not choose their Voip service.

(2) My long distance provider had Voip and was a close contender. Frankly they lost because nobody offered my local exchange and Vonage's toll free service hooked me. I had carried this long distance provider since the days of choice began. I had the same Calling Card number that has moved with me across 5 states. But, Voip won me over and they came in 2nd.

(3) The small companies scare me. Don't forget I am a perfectionist and am paranoid; therefore conservative. I think Vonage has enough jump they are in for the long haul even if they don't have it all yet. I am surprised one of the traditional POTS providers have not tried to buy them out.

With all that said, ACR is a big desire for me but wasn't a deal buster. I actually bought a Nortel Meridian phone several years ago that had a feature to pick up Anon / Private Calls and tell them I wasn't taking the calls. It also announces the number of the caller from the ID or, using your voice, announce the caller if you have programmed / recorded the info. It holds a lot of names. They did not advertise it and have not advertised it. It was an accident that I found it. That thing is gold. But I still prefer ACR from the company because I like Vonage's voicemail features. So, Vonage employee, if you are reading this, tell Daddy to get moving. From this forum it seems to be one of the bigger itches that need scratching.

Sorry to be long winded, but I just have to share this. I got on the government "Do Not Call List". Thought I was covered. Sat down at the dinner table. Phone rings. My POTS company is trying to sell me features. I tell them I am on the Do Not Call List. They tell me they are exempt because they are my provider. I tell them never to call me again unless it is a service problem. A week later they call me again to confirm that I do not want any more calls from their marketing offerings. Duh. Goodbye POTS. Hello Voip and Vonage.
