Vonage I love the design of the TRU8865, but have had no end of trouble getting it to work
I love the design of the TRU8865, but have had no end of trouble getting it to work in my environment.
I bought the one with 2 handsets at Costco back in January. It was fine for 2 weeks then, when I went to put the handset back in the cradle, the display went blank and the "Welcome" screen came on. The handset discharged down to 1 bar of power. It did this a few more times so I returned it for another unit, hoping it was just a bad one (after a few calls to Uniden). Brought home the second unit, and it started doing the same thing a few days later. Brought that one back.
Then I went to a completely different retailer, again hoping that the Costco ones were simply a bad batch, or refurbs or something. It was fine for 4 days (I bought the one with 1 handset), then this morning it did the same thing again - except this time when I put the handset back into the cradle the LCD display showed a bunch of vertical lines, then the welcome screen and down to one bar of power.
I am using it im my office along with a Macintosh G5 computer and an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I've now plugged it into a different outlet as I've run out of ideas as to why it keeps doing this. If it were something to do with the PAP2 I would expect problems to be random, but it only happens when I put the handset back into the cradle. I read scores of reports of others using these phones with their Vonage service, computers, wireless, etc ...
Does anyone have ANY suggestions as to why it keeps doing this? At this point I doubt very much if it's the phone, but rather something in my work environment.
