I live outside North America and I have a slow ADSL connection, 512/256. I am using the Linksys RT31P2 behind a Linksys WAG54G (ADSL modem / router). My PC is connected directly to the WAG54G.

The major issue is that the RT31P2 is using valuable bandwidth even when the phone is not being used. I can watch my download speed fall whenever I plug the RT31P2 into the WAG54G. Hence, when I remove the RT31P2 from the equation, I witness the opposite effect... a considerable improvement in data speed.

My phone calls are usually pretty clear. I do not have any complaints on the Voip quality, especially considering I live half-way around the world. Although, when I am on a Voip call, my data connection goes to zero for the PC. I just assume that the Voip requires all of the available bandwidth.

RT31P2 Firmware Version: 1.24.xx

WAG54G Firmware Version: 1.01.6 (the one and ONLY firmware from Linksys on this model.)

QOS (unfortunately) is not an available option on the WAG54G.

For what it is worth, I have selected 50 Kbps (the middle setting) on the bandwidth saver page. (I don't think this really has any bearing on this issue since my bandwidth decreases even when the phone isn't being used.)

Anyone having similar issues? Ideas?

heh, I realized that after I posted. have you given the qos settings a try?
I enabled Voice QOS. I have "Auto Detect" selected with the same result. The RT31P2

That puts me right back to "square one."
how? you aren't using the qos on your rt31p2. it only has any effect if something
