Vonage I just installed a VT2442 in my network. It is plugged directly into my cable modem

I just installed a VT2442 in my network. It is plugged directly into my cable modem with the remainder of my networking equipment behind it.

I have configured port forwarding for SMTP, POP3, Web, and DNS to point to my server on the LAN. This all works great and the websites work for clients on the outside (Internet side).

But....

When I type in the hostname for one of my websites, I get the router login page.

I don't see any options to select port forwarding based on the host header value which would be the perfect fix. Then if I asked for nevaehsoap.com it would forward to my web server but if I asked for 192.168.0.1 (internal IP of my router), I would get the router logon.

In the past with other routers, I have fixed this problem by using my own DNS server which then served up 192.168.0.10 (my web server) for any of my hosted sites and forwarded dns requests to my router (which forwarded to my ISP) for all other sites. I was able to put in my own DNS settings for the DHCP server built into my router.

With the VT2442 I can not override the DNS settings for DHCP client. It always gives out 192.168.0.1 (itself) for DNS. And then it always forwards to the ISP DNS servers. It does this even though I have set up port forwarding for DNS to my internal DNS server (also 192.168.0.10).

I though of (2) options for solving this...

I could host my own DNS for all my web sites. This is extra work and my domain registrar does it for free and they do a great job and have much faster servers.

I could host my own DHCP server and disable the DHCP feature of my router. Then I would configure my DHCP to hand out my DNS server info. All good I suppose but...

Problem with that is, I bought the router thinking I would plug my web server directly into the VT2442, put it on its own subnet, and use QOS rules to give it priority over my LAN clients. This would make my web sites respond better even if my kids were playing xBox live or I was running torrents, etc.

My understanding is that if I put the web server on its own port in the router, the LAN clients will not be able to reach it for DHCP requests. Correct? I don't want to configure another server just for DHCP on my LAN.

I really wish the VT2442 DHCP would just let me set the DNS infor it passes out!

I know this is highly technical but any help or ideas on how to solve this would be very much appreciated!
