I just have cable modem -> Vonage RT31P2 router -> two PCs. Several times a day, both computers connected to the Vonage router will tell me the network cable has been unplugged, followed by another message saying the network cable is now connected at 100.0Mbps. During that 10-15 seconds, any file transfers or active connections such as VPN are terminated.

This can happen as little as once every 2-3 hours or as often as 3-4 times per hour. When it happens, my Voip dies too. And if I put my old router back in place of the Vonage router, everything is rock-solid.

-UPDATE-

I got a Vongage technician on the phone yesterday and they acted like they've never heard such a thing before. They said it must be a hardware issue and overnighted me a new RT31P2 which I will get tonight. They must have provisioned the new box before they shipped it, and disabled my phone service on the old box in the meantime. I noticed my dial tone was gone and the phone light was out, but my Internet access was still active.

Now for the INTERESTING part. Since they disabled the phone port, I have not had a single disconnect from the Internet. I've been monitoring my connection status and capturing ping results for the last 30 hours. The RT31P2 has not rebooted itself since they turned off the phone port. Not one time! My connection has been rock-solid.

Are these Linksys boxes just crap?
