Vonage I just got a VT2442 as a replacement for a VT1005V, which had been the only remaining



I just got a VT2442 as a replacement for a VT1005V, which had been the only remaining weak link in my system after I reconfigured it based on suggestions by Forum member NateHoy. But the 2442 has not resolved my problems, and I wonder if anyone can help.

My configuration now is modem -> WRT54GS, where everything else connects: 2 PCs, Vonage adapter 1 (RTP300) and Vonage adapter 2 (now the 2442). Everything now works fine except the 2442 (and previously the VT1005V, with which the 2nd-tier Vonage support tech admitted they'd been experiencing "issues"). The VT1005V was losing its signal intermittently (several times a day), often causing dropped calls; finally it lost its signal for good, at which point (after numerous calls to cust. service) I finally got to this 2nd-tier tech who agreed to replace it with the 2442.

From the start, the 2442 has been a little more reliable than the VT1005V - but the signal on each phone line (1 phone, 1 fax) comes and goes every minute or so. I've called cust service three times in the few days since I got it; each time the 1st-level tech has me pull the plug while he adjusts some server settings, each time when I repower the device it works for a minute or two, then starts flaking out intermittently again. If I power down and on again, same thing.

I've tried switching from a regular Cat 5 cable to a "patch" cable, with no difference. I haven't tried a "crossover" cable, which NateHoy described a few messages back in this thread.

I've asked the techs whether I might make any changes to the settings in the 2442 that might help, but they say it won't help. (Of course, they also assure me each time that whatever changes they've made at their end have resolved the problem. Not.)
