Vonage I have the following setup: - An ActionTec M1000 modem/router connected

I have the following setup: - An ActionTec M1000 modem/router connected to a Qwest-supplied ADSL line. The LAN IP address of this device is 192.168.1.1. - A Vonage V-Portal box connected to the M1000 modem/router. - A Linux PC (my firewall) with two NICS: NIC 1: Connected to the V-Portal, with IP address 192.168.15.2, network mask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.15.1 (The V-Portal.) NIC 2: Connected to a hub, with IP address 192.168.0.1, network mask 255.255.255.0. Other PCs connected to the hub use this as their gateway. Qwest uses PPPoE for my connection, and my externally visible IP address is dynamically allocated by Qwest. I have my user name and password in the M1000, and my connection works fine. The V-Portal (in the Basic Setup section) I have so far configured in two different ways: 1) PPPoE: Supplying the same user name and password as in the M1000. The V-Portal thus gets an externally-visible IP address supplied by Qwest. 2) DHCP: Getting the IP address from the M1000. This IP address (which, because of the way the M1000 is configured, always is 192.168.1.2) is not externally visible. Using configuration 1 I have the following: Both Internet access and Vonage phone work fine. However, I can't access the M1000 configuration interface from any of my PCs. In particular, pings from any of the PCs (including my firewall PC) to 192.168.1.1 never get through. In addition, no external connection attempts (for example, HTTP, SSH, or whatever, connection attempts from hosts in the Internet into my PCs) get through to my PCs, despite of the fact that the V-Portal is configured as a DMZ host in the M1000, and that my firewall PC is configured as a DMZ in the V-Portal. Using configuration 2 I have the following: Vonage phone works. I can access the M1000 configuration interface from any of my PCs, and external connection attempts get relayed correctly to my PCs. However, Internet surfing does not work correctly. For the most part it does, in that I can connect to remote sites all right. However, once secure connections (like HTTPS) enter the picture things start to fail. Hosts that I can interact with no problem with configuration 1 stop responding - in fact, they just hang. For example, with configuration 2 I can't access my Yahoo accounts (for junk emails): mail.yahoo.com just never returns. This is not a Yahoo problem; it happens with many other (all?) secure servers out there. Anybody know how to get around this? Ideally, I would like to have configuration 2, but with the problem described solved.

Thanks for your feedback. However, this does not work. My firewall PC is directly
Missed that the Vonage was before your firewall PC. Your set up is very similar
Thanks again. Well, it would seem that our setups are not alike, after all. You
The M1000 modem/router would be the same as my Cable modem . . .in that it is the termination
One last though, if your M1000 modem/router is acting like a true NAT router, you
You are correct, in that the PCs are looking at the firewall PC as the gateway. However,
I would try the solution on my last post . . . (we crossed here). Set your gateway
Also, I am assuming your firewall log on the PC is not showing any blocking :?
