I didn't realize the WRT54G was crap, I thought I had done my research correctly, but I guess becasue it is version 5, it is going to give me trouble. As far as I can tell you can't tell from the box which version of the Router you are using, you have to open it up. So I am out of luck with this router? I'd really prefer NOT to disable the firewall as TREKOLOGER mentioned because I wanted the router FOR the firewall. I guess I will try and return this and get the WRT54GS.

Can you tell we what is different about the WRT54GS. Is there something special about "SPEEDBOOSTER"? I assume I will be able to load firmware on that. Do I need to do anything special with THAT router to make it work or should I PLUG and PLAY and it probably won't drop my line?

Also, does anyone know anything about the WRT54GC, the compact version of this router? Is it worth it? Can I load firmware on it? I do like the compactness of it becasue I may be traveling a bit and would like the option of through the two small peices (the Router and PAP2) in a bag.
