Vonage I have the Linksys RT31P2 as my Vonage device. Standing alone, with no other devices



I have the Linksys RT31P2 as my Vonage device. Standing alone, with no other devices in the mix, it has worked fine since I've had it. However, I recently bought a Linksys WRT54GS (version 3) to take advantage of the improved QoS, and to possibly some day install third party firmware.

I now have problems. When I make an outgoing call, I either get a fast busy signal, or silence (no ringing, and I can't hear the party on the other end). When I make make an incoming call to my Vonage number, my call gets kicked over to my backup number (the one in place for when Vonage is down), and my phone never rings.

I have now set up my system as follows: Cable modem>54GS> to the WAN port of the Vonage RT31P2. I have a cable going from phone port 1 to my home wiring. I have disconnected the telephone company's wiring (and for the last year, this worked fine when the RT31P was the only device in the equation). Nothing else is plugged into the RT31P2.

After searching here and spending a few hours on some things others have tried, I've tried the following:
-disabled firewall on the WRT54GS
- put in the Vonage device in the DMZ
- forwarded a bunch of ports, per instructions on Vonage's site, on the WRT54GS to the RT31P.

Nothing has worked, and I still have a non-functional phone. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

To be sure that is it the GS that is causing the issue you may want to temporarily
