I have spent hours, like DOZENS of hours, with tech support over the last year. 1 tier is overly eager to help buy not very deep. Upper level is pretty sharp if you can get to them but still never solved my problems. While on the phone I could not send attachments without the caller thinking they lost me. at least 10 different REPS tried all kinds of adjustments and nothing worked. Tried both linksys and motorola hardware that are supposed to have quality of service (QOS) built in and tired DSL and Cable, both were consistent and fast.
The D-Link DI-102 Accelerator COMPLETELY cured my problems! I only paid $39 at COMP USA but would have paid much more to have this working so well a year ago! Why doesn't Vonage offer this box? It would save them THOUSANDS in tech support and cancellations! I would gladly pay more for a router with the same chip built in!
I have tried 2 Vonage lines going at the same time, set to the high 90k bandwidth while uploading a 1mb file... PERFECT!!!!!
If you do mostly voice with mostly text email you can get away without, but if you talk to clients and send files, RUN! DON'T WALK to your nearest D-Link retailer and get one! I was surprised that even with my own internal ip scheme and a fixed ip on my PC it was completely plug and play!
Will be trying my fax modem soon (never could get good faxing at any speed) so stay tuned! :-D
