Vonage I have read most of the entries and hopefully all you folks with past gigaset problems

I have read most of the entries and hopefully all you folks with past gigaset problems are notified so you can benefit from my message post.

About a year ago an affiliate of Siemens Corp. contacted my firm to provide a out of warranty repair solution for the Siemens refurbished product line they sold. We developed a repair process for a number of their gigaset series cordless systems and have now developed a relationship with the Siemens Customer Care Support division and they now send all out of warranty and really difficult technical inquiries to our firm.

I have listed some pointers for servicing your own equipment. However, in a nutshell. Do not try to open it. Use proven good batteries and keep it away from moisture and don't drop it.

You should send it to us for repair and refurbishing and it comes back to you refurbished and improved, and our work is warranted for 90 days, but it should last until you drop it or get it dirty or wet.

We can repair the "fluttering" problem, and my neighbor at work who just happen to have the 2420 gigaset phones had the same problem. We developed a solution for it and we did his phone for free since he burned some dvds of my son playing ice hockey. A few months later we are standing in a industrial office across the street and through a couple of walls his phone rang, he answered it and after hanging up said to me " it never did that before" refering to its range and getting a call. I still had to disable the out of range alarm so he could go all over with it and not get annoyed when it would lose connection with the base when he went to far or something interfered with it.

So when it flutters and seems so get better or worse when you twist it, we have a fix.

Okay, so we have the fluttering problem licked, there are other problems that were noted in the posts.

The next problem is the call pad, and I recall a fellow explaining how to open the case to clean off moistuer. DO NOT TRY THIS !!!

While the person who posted it means well and is correct in his description, it is missing some other factors that will keep you from ruining your phone.

I have been repairing cordless phones and telecom equipment for 25 years and I tore up my share before getting a perfect method down pat. You will more than likely ruin your phone. During research and development an experienced technician experienced a dead phone, no lcd display, partial lcd display, fluttering, no receive when re-assembling a phone they took apart.

There are 10 tabs that hold the plastic together. If not popped loose in a certain sequence, with the right pressure and direction, and the right tool and practice you will for sure break one of these 10 tabs. And guess what, it takes just one broken tab to ruin the phone.

Okay, so lets say all the stars were in align, you have the hands of a 10 string guitar player, and you don't break any tabs. There are certain ways you clean the surface and you must be grounded and use a static-free cloth, the special resurfacer and a soldering iron. Many times the moisture begins to corrode the board and cleaning it rips away the dirt, corrosion and pieces of the phone that make it work.

If you put it back together without breaking any of the tabs and it works now but the display is dead. Congratulations, you broke a part when popping it open or cleaning it. It happens to us even when we take it apart properly and the tabs stay intact.

Okay here are some more tips.

Say your cordless unit won't charge up. Make sure you are using good batteries from another handset that charges up good and use those for testing. You may need to re-insert the batteries a couple times and cycle inside the charger a couple times to get it to charge all the way up.

If you put your batteries in backwards you will kill our phone. Don't knock yourself out over it, just be more careful and wrap it up good and send it to us for repair.

If you forget your password, send it in and we can default it and refurbish it at the same time.

When it comes to base stations keep them away from moisture too, but also use a battery back up surge protector and use the telephone line protector that should be integrated into your battery backup.

They do make a standard and plus version of the 2420 base station. You folks with problems answering and incoming call or jumping in on an existing call you probably have the standard base and need the plus model base to perform this function. You can add a inside party to an existing phone call but you must do this from the base station and use the JOIN feature.

If your in a storm and lightning prone area, unplug your phone and phone line til it passes. Plug in an old timey phone for these periods.

If you lose pixels on your display, a line goes out, or your answering machine stops working, we fix all those problems.

We also sell properly refurbished bases and handsets.

Please visit us at www.barclayent.com or www.cordlessrepair.com

Or call your toll free Siemens Customer Care line for assistance and if they cannot assist you then you should send us an email from our contact link on our website.

Siemens phone systems and vonage

Saw someone else talking about using a Siemens phone system with 2 lines and vonage.
I have a Gigaset 2420 and the base and the remote phones all ring. My ATA is connected
I tried a few things last night which did not work. However I did not try plugging
I tried just plugging the 2420 into the ATA186 directly. Still did not ring properly.
My 2420 was working great and yesterday it started behaving like yours. I am on
Interesting... now I wonder if it is related to the setup in the ATA186. I.E. some
Using the Gigaset 2420 without any problems with the following configuration. ISP
I went back to the base system settings and reset the unit to factory defaults.
ping_it, you have the Moto unit, I think txcas and I are using the Cisco ATA. txcas,
I also have the Motorola ATA. I am sure it was the phone settings and not the answering
