I have had a lot of trouble recently with the voice quality of my Vonage setup. the communication is often so garbled that I have to use another phone line. I am hoping that sombody can give me some pointers where I can check. First of all my setup:

I live in Colorado near Denver, and I have Qwest DSL with 1.5 Mbps down and 896 up (more on that later). the DSL modem is an M1000 from Qwest. I am using an RTP300 from Cisco (came from
Vonage) directly connected to the DSL modem. From there it goes to a wireless router (Linksys), and then from there to a stationary computer (or other computers via wireless). the phone connected to the RT300 is a 2.4 GHz cordless phone (spread spectrum), the wireless router also uses a 2.4 GHz signal. The cordless phone is about 6 feet from the wireless router.
the Qwest DSL connection is new, because I thought I had a problem with my Comcast broadband connection ( 4M down, 368K up) before, but I am having the same problem with the DSL setup. So it is likely not the service provider.
Vonage tried to help and changed some settings on the RTP300, but that didn't help.
I have tried to connect a corded phone to the RTP300, but that didn't help. I have tried to use the phone with the wireless router pwered don, that didn't help either, so I don't really think it is interference, especially since the router is 6 feet from the phone.

Any ideas? As it is, Vonage is basically useless to me, as nobody can understand what I'm saying. the other direction is usually OK, which seems to tell me that it has to do with the bandwidth. But 896K should be sufficient, shouldn't it?

I'm stumped. Can anybody help me with this?
