I have a $3/month Skype number, and it shows my caller id. Doesn't that really fly in the face of all the 'stock' answers I keep seeing on here? Sounds like someone told you to cut and paste an answer, but there is no context. 'Acceptable' could refer to the number of characters, or a list of proper spellings for standard messages, but when you tell a customer that a given service is deemed 'acceptable', you are implying that they should be satisfied with it. I am with all the others who say they feel misled by Vonage when Vongage does NOT explicitly tell people that they will no longer have out-bound caller ID. I have been used to caller ID for a decade at least.

Can you please tell me how Skype can do it for $3/month, total service costs, and Vonage cannot do it for $25/month? Yes, Skype still has a cost per call, but heck, I am spending < $10/month on Skype total, and I have not found anything useful that Vonage does Skype does not, and outbound caller ID is the big thing I want, and Vonage will not deliver. Yes, I said 'will not' as Skype's ability to provide outbound caller ID from a Voip line for such a cheap price makes all the apologists for Vonage meaningless and without integrity, as it is evidence that Skype can figure it out, but Vonage can't.

What's up with that?

If your reply is to repeat you lack of knowledge, please, just say, 'lack of knowledge', and be done with it, instead of some dribble about 'acceptable standards'. The 'acceptable standards' refers to the spelling, not to customers expectations.
