Vonage I have 4 vonage lines, 4 vonage linksys boxes (routers, I forget the model, RTP3something)

I have 4 Vonage lines, 4 Vonage linksys boxes (routers, I forget the model, RTP3something) And the fax port of the primary line is directly connected to the fax machine. The Vonage boxes have their own cable modem with 4.5MB down and 512k up, and multiple IP's and are connected to it, via a hub which has nothing else connected to it. 3 lines are business and the fourth is our personal line. I have completely disconnected from the PSTN (landline, phone company, etc...) All my voice calls work fine, no issues with Vonage service for the most part with the rare exception of the little annoyances like the call waiting beeping more than the normal PSTN's two call waiting tones. I also connected the cat-3 cabling in my house to all 4 Vonage lines, and disconnected the pairs at the NID, taking me off of the PSTN completely and allowing me to connect to all 4 Vonage lines, separately at all jacks in my house. I even got my DirecTiVo series 1 DVR dialing up correctly with Vonage!

To all of you having problems with quality, I have one three word suggestion that won't fail you.

BUY SOME BANDWIDTH!!!

I have worked in the ISP industry since the early 90's and I can assure you that these Vonage devises grab a lot more than the codec they use demands. So get higher upload, that's the key. Limiting yourself to 256 or 384 aint gonna cut it if you're doing anything but single line, light internet use type of stuff.

My business is expanding and I need a phone system for my home office that will allow me to grow, a little, but without costing a fortune. So far the prettiest phones to look at, seem to be these Nortel/Astra Venture phones. The only thing I can't seem to figure out from what I've been able to dig up online, is do the additional phones, have access to their own voice mail boxes, and can they be chosen from the auto-attendant?

Other than that, they look like the way to go.

If anyone has questions about my setup, or need help getting theirs working, give me a shout.

If you are local, and want me to send one of my technicians to do it for you, that can also be arranged, for a fee :) , but help for a fellow techie is never a problem.
