Vonage I had some problems this morning - actually ended up dropping off a conference
I had some problems this morning - actually ended up dropping off a conference call because I couldn't understand a word anyone was saying (It sounded like about 1/8 of a second was being chopped every other second, with some distortion). I tried to reconnect, but the connection was so bad I could not dial my conference access code after repeated attempts.
I kept using "933" as my testing system (and learned that apparently I have E-911 finally, at least). The "chop" was intermittent, sometimes making the call audible and sometimes complete gibberish. Occasionally, I even got a crystal-clear call. Other times, I couldn't even get through (no outbound ring at all).
Later, I had to join another con call and actually made it through the call, but there was a good deal of static on the line whenever anyone spoke. I could make out everything that was said, fortunately, but it was like a really bad cell connection. No major complaints on the outbound voice, but one person did mention a quiet crackling/static-ish noise that he said was quite tolerable, and my voice was strong and clear, at least.
In my year and a half of Vonage service, this is the second time I've had call-quality-related issues, and the first time it's involved more than one phone call. So, while I'm a little upset about today's outage, I'm not ready to call customer retention just yet. ;)
