I guess it comes down to expectations. I really didn't expect much out of Voip to start off with after reading numerous reports that the industry was not mature yet. Rather than falling for an advertisement, I read unbiased reviews that in a way bashed the technology saying that it was not up to par yet. Personally I have been thrilled because it is better than expected.

As a consumer, I feel that some of the burden falls on us to research our decisions. That way when we do make the leap it will be somewhat well informed. I hear everyday on the radio how great KIA's are, and how every cell phone company has the best coverage in my area. If I believed or expected all this to be true or even close to it, then I would get disappointed way too often. Instead, I read consumer reports and talk to people that have the product or service. Sure I may be anal in way about it, but I know (for the most part) what I am getting into.

What I am trying to get at is this is a new technology that is busting at the seams. There are going to be roadbumps on the way including loss of service and terrible customer service. Is it going to get better? Yes it is, but be sure that some of that will come at a price. Most people that have suffered through the growing pains will be more than happy to pay more for a better product. I too will be willing to a point.

Vonage knows that we didn't all jump aboard to pay the same as a POTS line. They know this and as a result they have to control costs which slows the improvement process. The fact is we ALL came to Vonage to save money and hopefully have the same level of service. Realistically though, you get what you pay for. It isn't as reliable yet and it isn't as good as a landline. the technology just isn't there yet. We need to be patient and it will pay off.

Vonage isn't for everyone yet. If you have no cell phone and cannot live without 911 then I would wait. The thing is that I see all these people post saying how unhappy they are, and how they can't live without certain features. They chose to come to Vonage and they need to decide if the money they save outweighs the feature they are missing. If not then they need to find something that meets their needs.
