I give up. I've now spent many weekends trying to configure my network. There's nothing wrong with my RT3P12, it's just the wrong item. You see, I already have a complicated router setup, and I can't add another router.

If you have a PAP2 and are interested in a Rt31P2, could you message me via this forum? There may be a way that we could exchange devices keeping our own phone number.

I also want to state again how disappointed I am about this. When I signed up, I was responding to many postings on the Vonage web site and advertisements that talked about a free PHONE ADAPTER, one that you could take with you, etc. The RT31P2 is not a phone adapter, the PAP2 is. I was simply sent something that was not advertised would be coming to me.

If you look anywhere that the Linksys Router is sold, at Linksys website, on the packaging itself, it's called a BroadBand Router with 2 Phone Ports , and always with that font emphasis, it is NOT called a Phone Adapter.

So, I was not sent what was promised to me, I've wasted 4 weekends trying to configure the thing and now have to give up. There's no way that I can configure this thing to work with my network, and I really wanted the Phone Adapter that I was originally promised. I think this is really false advertising. Had I known I would have to integrate a second router into my system, there's no way that I would have signed up.

I wrote customer service and got no reply. I called customer service and after one hour, 12 minutes, got a fast busy. I personal messaged a customer service rep on this board who simply said "we don't give out PAP2's". So, I'm not going to get any resolution from Vonage, excellent.

If you already have a router/cable modem combo, and therefore, you cannot put the linksys router closest to your cable modem as Vonage recommends on their configuration charts, then I strongly recommend that you stay with the PAP2. If you are not a network savvy person, and you want to connect devices to the linksys router that you want devices on another router (for example, wireless devices) to talk to, use seamlessly, and use VPN, then I *also* recommend that you stay with the PAP2.

But if you have a normal setup, are interested in removing your router and replacing it with the RT31P2, this is hopefully a good opportunity for you.
